Biplaw Hosts 'Industry Night' Special Advance Screening of 'Tony'

Advance Boston screening of TONY @tonymovie , the upcoming Anthony Bourdain origin story, presented by @a24 and @opentable on August 3 at 7:30 PM at Coolidge Corner Theatre has invited Biplaw Rai to host.

Biplaw shares, ”Like many people in this industry, I’ve long admired the way Anthony approached food with curiosity and a deep respect for the people behind it. He reminded us that every dish carries a story, and that some of the most important voices in our industry giving visibility to the cooks, dishwashers, farmers, servers, and immigrant communities whose work often goes unseen.

This screening is a chance to celebrate those stories and the people who continue to live them every day.

I look forward to spending the evening with fellow cooks, restaurant workers, hospitality professionals, and friends from across Boston’s food community.”

The Boston Globe writes,

A Nepali restaurateur who cofounded Comfort Kitchen, Ama at The Atlas, and Foxglove Terrace with his wife, Nyacko Pearl Perry, Rai called the film “a celebration of Anthony’s life” and emphasized the importance of recognizing both front- and back-of-house hospitality workers.

“Prep cooks, dishwashers, and line cooks — those who show up every night — are usually not the face of the restaurant, but definitely the heartbeat of the restaurant," Rai told the Globe.
